Service Dogs in Training
Guide Dog Puppies
Since 2014, I have been a volunteer puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind. As puppy raisers, our job is to train and socialize the puppies we get into mature model citizens. Dogs return to campus when they are about 15 months old for formal training where they will learn actual guide work. After about 3-4 months of formal training, dogs are paired with a visually impaired partner and graduates after a 2 week course. These dogs are exception and I have am honored to be a part of such a wonderful experience.
